*shrugs* I still like 2Pac. Not sure what that has to do with tribute bands though. I don't recite my own versions of 2Pac songs.
And I love RATM. I just don't understand the concept of tribute or cover bands. If they can cover another bands work perfectly, obviously showcasing talent, and work together as a real cohesive unit/band, then I see no reason to push the originality envelope by writing their own tunes.
Doing covers is perfectly fine and healthy for bands. But to devote the entire band to one band was always odd in my eyes.

I used to share that view, but now I realise that it's good to hear songs by bands you like, even if it's performed by that band itself. It's also fun as hell for the bandmates.

I agree. Every band should do covers, it gives them a chance to let loose and have fun. But devoting the entire band to ANOTHER entire band is odd.
